PDX Weightlifting is in the power game.  A more explosive athlete is a better athlete.

You want to win.  Period.  You want to be faster, stronger, and more conditioned than your competition.  Even if you aren’t a competitive athlete, you want to train, look, and move like one.  Bottom line, if you want to perform and look like an athlete, you have to train like one.

But, what does that mean?

Strength Conditioning

At PDX Weightlifting we use the Olympic weightlifting movements (snatch and clean and jerk) and their assistance exercises to fundamentally alter your body.   These large multi-joint functional movements elicit maximal results in both strength acquisition and overall physiological conditioning.

When you’re trying to strengthen your body, you can’t just make each muscle stronger, you have to make the nervous system itself stronger.  Traditional bodybuilding training just won’t cut it.  You will learn the most effective exercises and techniques available to take you to the top of your game.

Explosive Speed

Speed wins games! An fast athlete will win 99.9% of the time over an equally strong, but slow, athlete. Anyone’s current level of speed may be dramatically improved by technique work, power training, and plyometric drills.

An athlete who believes that they are not naturally fast can indeed improve their reaction time through training and can in fact become faster than those who at first seemed “genetically gifted”.  Hard work trumps genetics every time.  I’ll show you how!

Mobility Training

There is no sense in being strong and fast without the ability to actually use that strength and speed.  The beauty of using the Olympic weightlifting movements as the backbone of your training program is that they AUTOMATICALLY force you to be more flexible and mobile without the need of excessive flexibility work.
