All Jacked Up

“What most people fail to realize is that the reason they are not as big as they want to be is not that they were born with a disadvantage in the “jacked” department; rather it is because their training, programs and nutrition suck.”–keith Scott

Please stop curling in the Power rack.

Public Nudity at the Rec Recess

OK, so they won’t allow that, but All the Rec clubs are having a showcase in the Smith Ballroom on Jan. 31′st from 11am-1pm.  And it is encouraged to do something to grab peoples attention.

I encourage all members to be there.   It’ll be a good way to recruit new members and eat free food.

And if you want to come dressed in a Fake Sumo outfit … I won’t stop you.  But, at least wear the loin cloth.

Check out the Dumb Snatch

Here’s a Link to a really good Video, from Crossfit, on how to do the Dumbbell Snatch

The dumbbell snatch is a great unilateral exercise.  Let’s face it, nobody does enough Unilateral Work.  Too bad, as our lives are full of it.

Don’t let HIT happen to you …

Like many fitness people, I went through a phase where I was lured in by HIT (High Intensity Training). The name alone is enticing when you’re a testosterone laden teenager. But, with the loss of youth, comes a gain in wisdom … and an appreciation of the principles of Science. Thank heavens … or I could have ended up like this guy … curling a WHOLE 60lbs … man that was a tough set.

Try this one, Youko Ahola …

This is called the 2-claw-Fox-Deadlift.

Mike Boyle on Squat Depth

From an Article by Mike Boyle:

I love when someone tells me they squat to “parallel” and then I get to go to the gym and watch. I think, “My God, who taught your geometry class?” Parallel to what? I start to ask myself if there’s a line on the wall going downhill at a 45 degree angle. Are they parallel to that?

This is the reason I teach Front Squats rather than Back Squats.  It’s far easier to get someone to Front squat deep.  If they don’t, they’ll just dump the bar.  You’re position should be like the lady above.
