Beijing Olympics

Olympic Coach Magazine goes over the upcoming Beijing Olympics.

3 Essential Supplements for Athletes

John Berardi lays down what he finds to be the 3 most important supplements an athlete should concern themselves with:

The first is a green food supplement.
The second is a fish oil supplement.
The third is a protein supplement.

I think it’s hard to argue with that.  Though I really only regularly use the second two as supplements, a copious amount of veggies is necessary, and drinking them may help out on that front.

This is me NOT practicing what I preach. Notice my back rounds just a bit in the recovery portion of the clean. I likely caught it too far forward. But, just as likely, I simply didn’t stay as tight as I should have. That’s a common reaction when the weight is heavy, but it’s counter productive. The tighter you stay, the stronger you’ll be, the more likely you’ll be to make the lift.

Also, rounding of the back in the recovery can lead you to dump the bar forward, losing an otherwise good clean.

Drink Cow Urine, Cure Diabetes?

I really wish this was a joke.

Oregon Weightlifting Classic Tomorrow

Here’s an article on the U of O’s goducks website about the upcoming competition in which 5 PDX weightlifting members will be competing.  If you find yourself in the area (Eugene) you should come and check it out.  It’s free and open to the public to watch.

Cormax: Weightlifting for Idiots

Stuart sent me this vid.  Quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while.  Seriously.

What’s more fun that putting heavy weights above your head?  The Oregon State Championships (not at Oregon State university) are at U of O this Saturday, June 7th.
