2007 Heavy Athletics Olympic Weightlifting Meet in Creswell, Oregon
Here I am (below) at the Heavy Athletics Meet in Creswell, Oregon at Iron Works gym! It was a great meet, loads of fun. It was wonderful to get to know the crew down there and to see the great team they have built. A real inspiration.
Get set …
Snatch!!
I missed my first snatch at 60k. I caught it, but I pressed out my left arm a bit. I came back for my second, and made it. Then for the third, I did 62.5k. That’s still 7.5k less than I’ve done in the gym, but I feel pretty good about it.
Then the clean …
I made an easy 75k, then went for 80k and power cleaned it. I felt good, so I went all out for 90k (the most I’ve ever jerked).
I made the clean without too much effort. It smacked my collar bone, but other than that, I felt ready to jerk it.
Missed it!! Just barely out of the groove (forward of course).
check the speed! The bar is nearly invisible in this shot (partly because of an old crap camera!). Watch out audience!
The experience was great. Tons of fun.
A special thank you to Tom Hirtz for inviting me down, and helping out so much with getting PDX Weightlifting off the ground.

New Website for PDX Weightlifting
Welcome to PDXW! The site is new. If you’d like to join an Olympic Weightlifting Club in Portland Oregon, please drop me (Nick) an email: coach@dojoathletics.com
I’ve decided that it is easier for me to keep up with the website if it’s in Blog format. That’s the reason for the shift, for those of you familiar with a different page. Also, forgive the strangeness of some posts. I imported much from the PSUW site and some of that is really only relevant to PSU students. Don’t worry if that isn’t you.
Check back often to keep up to date on news and happenings with the club.
Fall Term, 2008, Olympic Weightlifting Schedule!

The projected Schedule this term is going to be Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7pm.
PSU students who want to join PDXW and compete, can join for free, and receive 25% off my coaching rates. Please email: coach@pdxweightlifting.com
